Looking at purchasing a boat with a 2010 SHO 250, that was repowered by a Yamaha shop in 2017 under warranty, and is now out of range to get YES warranty from Yamaha, so I can get an extended warranty (service contract?) called FPC Premium from Protective Asset Protection. It isn't cheap, $4,370 for 3 years with $500 deductible just for the motor and $1,693 for boat accessories, so trying to find some positive feedback on them, or another warranty company that anyone has had success with. I extensively researched PAP, and not a lot of new reviews, but what I did find was more negative than positive.

We are entering our 3rd year working with FPC. They are one of the companies we work with. Service companies base pricing on loss ratios and very simply, older outboards get a bot spotty. Service and proper maintenance are not always done correctly. They do make a distinction between what they call "Pre-Owned" and "Post Sale". I believe yours would fall into a "Post Sale" category because you are not buying it right now. The "Pre-Owned" designation would make the assumption that some basic checks are being done before the purchase. A "Post Sale" is more risk that everything works on day one. From what I see, the Post Sale is only available for 2 years. Double check what you are being quoted. A surprise down the road might not be fun. Let me know if I can help. Ken, Thanks for the info. and good to talk with you. I really appreciate your insight and will give you a call back when we figure out which way we go with a service contract.
