 08 Yamaha Vmax 225 hpdi problem

Took my boat out and motor will turn over but not start. It started at first and ran for about 3 seconds then died. Couldnt get it to start after that, in the lake or on land. Took it home, hooked up the water hose and started right up. Also started dry as well after I got home. Could it have flooded at the lake and by the time I got home, the fuel evaporated? Or what else could have caused that

where you located we can look at it you might have a injector stuck open

Mine did something similar once. Turns out it was a broken wire in the harness from the hull to the motor. Mine would die when trimmed down. Wouldnt restart again until it was trimmed up

I always have to give mine some throttle to start it when it cold.

I don't have the HPDI, but I have a '99 3.1L Vmax 225 HP. Mine did something similar last year. It was the Fuel Pumps.

Boatman, Im in center tx, deep east tx. I took it out the other day after I cranked it before hand on the water hose and it cranked and ran good at the lake. So it may have worked itself out. Im gonna go again later this week and try it out without hooking it to the hose and see what happens and will update. Thanks for the offer
