Does anyone know of houses for rent around Lake Stillhouse? Six of us will be headed there in a couple of weeks and have been having trouble locating somewhere to stay other than hotels. We know absolutely nothing about the area and even less about the lake.

I've never heard of anything around the lake. It's too small for any big tournaments so there isn't much demand for houses or trailers to rent.

Thanks. Just about all of those are too small, or they are not available. Oh well. So the lake is small???

Lakes like 6500 acres. Not tiny by any standard. Over 100 deep at dam. Pretty clear water with the hydrilla. No water front properties as its a Corp of Engineers lake. Plenty of hotels on 190 in Belton, Harker Heights or Killeen just north of the lake or as mentioned above hotel & B&Bs in Salado just southeast of the lake.

lol, this is gonna be a change. I am used to fishing northeast Texas lakes. I don't even think that I have ever been in 100' fresh water! I am guessing line size will be a factor? This is gonna be crazy. Are there any smallmouths in that lake? That could be a plus as I have never had an opportunity to catch a smallmouth.

Check Killeen, Temple and Belton for rentals. All are fairly close to Stillhouse.

Yes there are smallmouth, not as many as before but they are there. Since you will be there a week...head over to Belton for a day, there are lots of smallmouth in that lake. And both lakes are only about 10-15 min from each other

I appreciate all the info. I will only be there for two or three days, but it would be nice to catch a smallmouth. Heck, with my luck lately, it will be nice to catch anything at all!!!

Most of the smallies I have caught on that lake came from the east side of the lake. Specifically bluffs walls from Stillhouse marina all the way to water intake on southeast side of lake. Good luck!

You could look into to Air B&B and see if someone has a house they rent for a few days.

We are going for the TBF Tournament next week and found our place on VRBO. They had several that weren't too far, but nothing on the lake.

hope your going there for the scenery and not fishing,, its not called STILLOUSY for nothing
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
