Just moved back to Texas from NC. I want to show the boy a good time catching sandies while they are running. I can only assume (hope) it's happening. I haven't fished for sandies like that since I was a boy myself.

Recommendations? Muddy creek? Good access to muddy creek? Or tackel and etc...

For ray Hubbard, they are not up muddy creek. Went yesterday from the mouth to about 3/4 up the creek to that one road. Water was 62. Threw rattle traps, small swimbaits, tail spinners, and most of the time I thre small 1/4 oz road runners. I only got 2 from 4:30 till 6 up the creek. Main lake water was 58. I caught 10 DSing in 33 FOW from 6:15 till 7. Hope that helps ya. I have heard the are up Rowlett creek. I try from 66 and further north all the was past firwheel mall area. Gun range hell hole area. All thats good from what Ive heard.

Welcome home 11B! This winter is my slowest catching winter since i started lake fishing. My last 12 trips since December, 4 at twok, 4 at hubbard and 4 at bigTex targetting whites, htbrids and striper. BigTex was the only lake that consistently caught fish. The other two..... Nada! Yes zero! Ouch! Mother nature threw wicked curve balls with all the rains. Don't know about Lavon. But the good news (North East West South) is reports are saying water temps are rising and few fish are showing back up in the main lake. Come on Spring! banana Good luck guys!

Thanks so much ya'll. I am heading back out of town soon, may be gone up to 7 weeks. I gotta make the best of my time. I will hit up Rowlett Creek IVO the GHS agbarn and gun range over there. If it's any good I'll drag the boy out there after school and post some pictures of our haul. If I get skunked I might still hit uo old 66 bridge, portion between miller road snd hwy 66 near the muddy creek and see if that has changed.

Muddy creek is my old stomping grounds and I miss it badly. I lost so many shoes walking out to that creek. So many good memories.

Thanks so much smile

Sewage leak into Spring Creek which feeds into Rowlett Creek, would be careful if you head up close to Firewheel and I would throw back all the fish

I'd bet they are still fine to eat. But the only place I caught fish today was muddy creek. Didn't slay them though, and only two keepers. Will try again tomorrow, and get an early start.

Got skinked this morning in the creeks. Right now my luck is better just fishing from the bank of lake ray hubbard with just worms. Plus a few channel cats too.
