Fished Fayette yesterday with buddy Lloyd. Absolutely nothing happening with bluegill/red ear. Tried one creek & two sets of reeds. No luck. On the other hand, the bass were pretty active. We ended up with 45 total, & lost 20+ due to bad hook sets etc. Water temp has dropped back down to 69 degrees & the water level was about 8 inched low? The bass have moved back out to a little deeper water as compared to last week. Most were caught on Tsunami swim shad & Culprit worms. Most were in the 2-3 lb range with a few bigger & a few smaller. Did get 3 bass on red wrigglers while fishing for bluegill....great ultra-light fight. [Linked Image]

"45 bass total". That's more bass than I've caught in 2 or 3 years. hammer grin

Good going Vogey. It's great to have a fall back fish to catch when the
perch haven't started biting yet !!

As always great post Steve. Still a little on the cold side for the sunfish to really start moving. I fished Dunlap today with Catyakker and we caught a bunch of nice Bluegill and Redear in 7 to 10 inch range. Also caught one bass 14". All released. thumb

Thanks guys...it was a fun day.

Doctor...I have been fishing Fayette for bass since 1979, so I kinda know the lake & patterns pretty well.

Banker...how many red ear did you catch ? Also, did you fish for crappie at all ? I plan on fishing Dunlap next Monday, and were hoping there would be some crappie in the shallower water.

We caught a couple Redear. Most were Bluegill. Did not fish for crappie but an angler who we were talking with in a boat had caught a few crappie. He stated the crappie were very close to spawning. thumb

Nice fish. Give Fayette a few more weeks and the Bluegill will be on the move. I will be fishing Dunlap later today and will let you know how I did. Again great post as always Vogey. woot
