Minnows and worms have both worked for me in the past. They really like crawfish, but you can't get the smaller ones this time of year. Smaller drum are excellent eating.

I have caught a lot of drum over the years. I have always used worms as the bait!

I think drum or gasper goo are very opportunistic. We often catch them on 5/8 oz chartreuse or white lead slabs when fishing for white bass and hybrids. They seem to hang around on the bottom just below the feeding white bass, when our lure gets too close or on the bottom it is common to catch drum, we will often catch 5-10, as long as we can find feeding fish they are almost always there. Small Blue cats do the same thing.
