I know this is a long shot, but there are some on here very knowledgeable. As stated about I have a 99 Evinrude 175 Ficht. Owned it 4 years and it is a good motor. Has had all the upgrades and runs very good. New problem that my mechanic cant seem to find. On a cold start, pump all the bulbs up, turn the key and it fires right up. Put the shifter in neutral and give it some gas to warm the engine. The rpms go up as wanted. When I kick it back to neutral to go in gear the RPMS dont come back down. I can put it in gear and it idles perfect and runs perfect. Sometimes after a run and go to neutral the RPMS stay up. Anybody have any suggestions?? Thank you

Do you have a hot foot. If so, check for debris that is not allowing the peddle to return all the way. Happened to me me a few times.
Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!

Hi Randy. Thanks. No Sir. No hot foot. I agree that it seems the throttle cable maybe isnt operating properly. We replaced it last year, but the mechanic says its working like it should.
