Had a few friends out at the Barge on Saturday afternoon at about 3 and we ended up with 54 I believe. I iced those down and hit it Sunday at 9 am and after 2 hours I had 22 more. All fish came from about 45' depth and 15-17' deep. Most on minnows, rosey reds, few on white jigs Sunday am. On my barge it says the water temp is 58. I am no expert but some of these fish looked spawned out. Maybe they were just not fully developed, but they were small egg sacks. Lots of fun and 16 lbs of fillets.

Nice catch thanks for sharing. I wouldnt announce I iced fished down as I know someone that got a ticket from r fish being iced down by a game warden last year at Fishermens point on Richland Chambers Lake.

Wow, I can't believe they have already spawned out with the cold weather we've had, but what do it know?

I don't see how it could be illegal to ice down your catch, if they are legal.

On a side note I went to Palestine yesterday and bought a few minnows and they gave me a receipt and said I should keep it as the GW was cracking down on minnows with no receipt.

I think you have to show you bought your minnows and didn't bring in some foreign fish for bait.

https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/...-and-transport-of-exotic-aquatic-species

Transport and use of commercially purchased live bait in water while fishing from a vessel is allowed, provided persons in possession of the bait have a receipt that identifies the source of the bait. Any live bait purchased from a location on or adjacent to a public water body that is transported in water from that water body can only be used as bait on that same water body.

I am no expert and don't really know about these things but some of the fish clearly had a lot of eggs that were gonna be laid very soon and a few had a small kinda shriveled up eggsack. IDk for sure.

I am not saying it isn't true, most rules and laws have some crazy about them but "Cant ice down fish?" I have never heard of such a thing. Has to be more to the story.

This person that got a ticket had legal fish sir. The game warden gave the ticket for them being on ice and said its in the rule book.

I think it was last year I was buying minnows at gas station when I told the cashier I didn't need a receipt. She graciously informed me that if I was checked I would receive a ticket. Before finding that out I had big plans of building a small pond and filling it with minnows caught at a creek. I just cant stand the price of those things.I can't remember if I read on this forum or not about a new rule that you needed to empty all water from your boat including live wells before leaving ramp. I hope Im misunderstanding that because I plan to fish lakes an hour away.
