Hey guys I am going to buy a 10 pelican bot and I need to get a trolling motor , battery, battery charger, life jackets etc.

Iím on a pretty tight budget. Where is the best place to buy and what brands? I donít want the cheapest but I donít want the Bentley model either. I am looking at 55 thrust trolling motors. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

This is what I just ordered. Its pricey but it sure beats having to fish and deal the handle constantly. To me its well worth it if feasible. As for battery deep Cycle Wal Mart battery. Life Jacket pawn shop. Battery charger look at northern tools

Sorry that is the motor guide bulldog. I paid like $450 for it. They have a 44lb and 54lb. I got the 54lb thrust.

I have a Pelican and use a 30lb Minn kota endura trolling motor. I pulls me just fine and I can go all day on one battery. Your not going to have enough foot room for a full size foot pedal. I do have a big foot on mines and it works great.

I've got a 45lb on my 8ft Sun Dolphin. Walmart deep cycle, a group 24 for short trips, 27 for longer trips. Plain ol vest type life jacket will do or get store brand A/M inflatable for around $79 when on sale. Tiller style motor will be cheapest. I've had a blast with mine . Been all up and down my local rivers. Motors are all over the internet. Either brand should be fine. Don't over think this, pretty basic stuff. On a 10e , I might stick with at least 45lb.

Bass Pro just came out with their own brand of trolling motors. Pretty reasonably priced.

Has anyone tried the Duracell batteries from Bateries +? Pretty good reviews but you know how that can be sometimes.

Get them from Sam's Club for a lot less.

My go to batteries are the walmart everstart batteries. They are very reasonable as far as price and have been good quality for me so far. I use them in all my vehicles and my boat. You also want a battery maintainer, you can get one at walmart made by stanley for about $10 as well. A maintainer can stay hooked up to your battery when not in use and sends minimal amps to charge and keep charged without harming it.

If you use a larger trolling motor for a small boat you will need a larger battery. I have a 13 ft Hobie pedal drive I rigged a 24 amp Water Snake motor with a smaller battery and it works fine all day. It fits where the pedals fit. But you will need to register it with TX numbers if you use it on a public lake. I have not registered mine and still use the pedals most of the time.
