The Ray Hubbard Bass Cub will be having our second members only tournament of 2019, Saturday March 9th on Cypress Springs Lake. Here is the information - • When: Saturday March 9th • Where: Cypress Springs Lake - Overlook Park Ramp (Tall Tree) • Time: 6:20 AM - 3:00 PM • Registration: 5:00 - 6:00 AM • Entry Fee: $60.00 per boat – 2 person maximumYou MUST be an RHBC member to fish this tournament. We do not accept membership at the launch ramp, so if you want to fish this one, you will have needed to join the Club at our meeting this Thursday night at BPS Garland. Here is a link to the meeting information. Meeting InfoRegistration will be at the ramp starting at 5:00 on Saturday morning. When you register you will be given a numbered chip. You will need to to turn your chip in by placing it on the board to get your fish weighed. You will need to get your live well checked and a ribbon tied on to your trolling motor which must remain there until weigh in. You can then launch or trailer and go to your spot. No lines in the water until 6:20. Lines out at 3:00. There will be a 30 minute dead water period where no fishing is allowed at the end of the day. This is to give members time to get off the water, and the TD's time to get the weigh in set up. The chip must be back on the board with the Tournament Director by 3:30. Weigh in will start then. If your chip is not on the board at the specified time, a 1 pound per minute penalty will be assessed. After 15 minutes your catch will be marked as 0. You will be called to the scales by boat number. Leave your fish in the live well until your number is called! Keep the water treated! See you at the ramp!

Great turnout last night. Looks like we're going to have a bunch of boats at Cypress. Bring that rain gear. Going to be a wet morning. See you there!

Weather basically held until 9:30, then hit for 20 minutes with high winds, some lightning, and driving rain. Then the sun came out! Beautiful day, yeah pretty windy from the wsw, and that sets up the worst for Cypress, but manageable.
Fishing was pretty tough, it appears. We caught 7 fish, 6 keepers. Culled a 14 1/8" with 2 minutes to last cast! Finished out of the money, but respectable (IMO) with 5 for 9.81.
Congrats for those that cashed!!!
44 boats is a lot for that lake!

Congratulations to the winners!! It was a grind. It started out great. we had 4 keepers before the storm hit, had a pattern going... after the storm and the huge waves and winds- everyone was on top of what we were fishing. we finally caught 5 and culled a few times for ounces, but never got a good 4 pound bite. we finished 3rd, roughly 1/2 pound from the leaders. 13.19 was our weight.
I have fished there since the 90's pretty frequently... and I have never in my life seen the size waves that were on the lake yesterday. that west wind kicked it up tawakoni style! it was nuts!

Agreed, it was nuts. I didn't think Cypress would ever look like it did yesterday and many others agreed with me at weigh in. It was Victory at Sea conditions in the afternoon. We speared three waves and that water was COLD. We actually had 45 boats yesterday after going over the weigh sheets. Adam Vesely and Taylor Gauntt won it with 5 for 13.78. That included big bass of the event with a 5.29. Thanks to everyone that came out. I'll be interested to see what we will get for a turnout if we actually have a day with even decent weather. We're 0 for 2 so far, but you all keep showing up anyway. I will post full results and pictures later this week.

Since we make as many meetings as we do weigh ins, I can tell you we had an interesting morning. Slept in, got on the water for an hour and caught one right before we headed back in to Russell's house and had breakfast while waiting out the weather. Got back on the water and spaced out 2 more until it was about 2:50p. The last words of JB were "we better not screw around and catch another one or we are going to have to go weigh in" as he had the trolling motor on 90 going to the ramp. Of course, he screwed around on his last cast and caught a 4+lber giving us 13.23. JB had 4 bites and put 'em all in the boat. He went to the weigh in and I went to work.

Strange weather this year, looks like some tuff fishing for the club but they always show up. Congrats to the winners!
