Is there a way to tie this knot if my line is already connected to something. For example, if I tied on a swivel onto my main and forget to tie my leader to the swivel first, is there a way to tie a palomar onto it?

You tie your leader to you swivel then tie swivel to main line. Lots of great knots out there where you can do it that way though!

Definitely.

Put your line through the swivel and then back through
Tie an overhead knot in the doubled line.
Take the end of our leader and pass through the loop.
Pull tight.

Same as you did for attaching other end of line to swivel, just pass the end of leader instead of the swivel through the loop before tightening.

In a case like that ,

I tie a eye crosser, look it up, great knot.

Palomar and eye crosser are about the only two knots I use
