banker, yup! That was really the whole point of the film. Point people to Jesus, and let him take care of the rest.

Yup! That why I sell them, and why my clients buy them. At the end of the day I don't like fishing with artificials. I'm a live bait meat fisherman. The fly you saw me tying was part of an order for a client of mine. The video serve as a way to update my clients since these orders take time to make.

While I'm tying these, why not let me pay to send you a couple to test for yourself to see if they'll be worth your time?

What depth do they run at?
These would work on a 5wt fly rod?
You just throw them out like a crankbait and troll them behind your boat?
They do not have a bill to keep them down, the round piece in front is weight to keep them down? Large size it must serve another purpose also.
You were right, they do look hideous.

Appreciate the offer, but depending on above answers I will purchase a couple.

I am a fan of your fine videos and have been intrigued that you are doing a series on fly fishing. We both do some unconventional things with our fly rods.

1. "What depth do they run at?"
They run at any depth you want. With fly line you'd run: full-sinking fly line. With traditional spinning gear, add whatever weight you want to get down to the depth you want.

2. "These would work on a 5wt fly rod?"
No, this is much like big heavy salt water fly. I use my 6/7wt for trolling with them. That's a bare minimum. You're best off with a fiberglass fly rod. Fiberglass is best for trolling. Graphite it too brittle ans weak for trolling. 9 wt is best. 8/7 weight would split the difference. Think salt water or big bass fly fishing.

3. "You just throw them out like a crankbait and troll them behind your boat?"
This is a trolling fly. It is not meant to be cast. You can cast it, but in fly trolling, you set adrift and doll out line just like walleye trolling is done.

4. "They do not have a bill to keep them down, the round piece in front is weight to keep them down? Large size it must serve another purpose also."
RatlTraps don't have a bills to keep them down either, yet they stay down. The round piece makes it wiggle, waggle just like a RatlTrap. It does add weight, but the weighted fly line is what controls the sink. Salmon and steelhead fishermen use something similar made out of brass for their tube flies. It does add weight but it'd dodges and wiggles in a frantic fashion to simulate wounded bait fish.

The large size is due to the size of the disc. Smaller discs have been used but require faster speeds in order to get it wiggling. The disc basically acts like a spinner. It just adds vibration and action.

5. "You were right, they do look hideous."
Yes, I absolutely hate making them as well. I tried to get some footage out on the water, but can't find a way to film the action.

Something like this I would run off the back of the boat while jug fishing just drifting with an artificial and probably hook into a spotted bass or two, maybe a stripped bass.

Let me know.

Thanks for the answers.
Can not use the flies on my fly rod, but I could try them on my spinning reel.
