 Carp fishing spot lake austin

Folks.
spending the week end in Austin. Hope to have few hours sunday am to go carp fishing on lake austin. Is there a spot easily accessible and that produces . Never been there and would appreciate the tip . Thanks in advance !

I usually see some carp anglers fishing under the IH-35 bridge. They are fishing during the nighttime hours! I have also seen carp anglers fishing by the kayak ramp at the end of the park. This is at Lady Bird Lake.

what Banker said , usually its a hit or miss when fishing just a few hours but if your lucky someone fished it the day before and theres bait in there

I saw on the net that lake austin was supposed to be infested with Carps they released to take care of a grass problem. i looked on the satelitte and lake ladybird is down stream. Have they moved to that area .

I saw on the net that lake austin was supposed to be infested with Carps they released to take care of a grass problem. i looked on the satelitte and lake ladybird is down stream. Have they moved to that area .

The Carp that were stocked in Lake Austin are Grass Carp. Lady Bird Lake is one of the best Carp Fisheries in the United States. There are also some regulations on the carp caught on Lady Bird Lake, Would suggest that you read up on them. Texas Parks&Wildlife Web Site. Best of Luck. Hope you catch a few!

Emma Long Metropolitan Park has lots of bank space suitable for carp fishing. I've seen people catch carp & buffalo almost everywhere in the park. And, if you have time, Town Lake AKA Lady Bird Lake is worth exploring. Lots of suitable swims on that lake and there are some BIG fish in that lake.

Grass carp are the culprits on Lake Austin, but you better check the rules and regulations as far as catching them

+1! Common Carp are considered naturalized, and buffalo are native. Grass carp are often stocked by the state to control weeds but in some waters are invasive. They all look and behave quite differently, and some have regulations so it pays to know the difference.

You need to kill any grass carp out of Austin. Permit has expired. Not entirely true, the permit has expired but you can either keep or release them. Sterile grass carp only live about 10 years anyhow, and the last stocking was 6 years ago

Has anyone tried the wheelchair accessible fishing pier. Recently paralyzed in legs.
