I am taking the family to Broken Bow next weekend for 4 or 5 days. I fished it last summer in the heat and it was tough! I am hoping this time of year may be a little better. Any advice?

Thanks Guys

I was told they had been catching quite a few bass unusually shallow for this time of the year, the guy that was catching them loves to throw a jig.

I talked to a buddy of mine who I used to work with, he's retired and now lives up there. Said they caught over 40 bass a few weeks ago on top water schooling. Crazy for this time of year!

Any and all info is appreciated. I'm coming down from Omaha, NE in a couple weeks, and man, I need to fish some water that is liquid on top. This place sucks, I'm so looking forward to actually being able to bass fish again, have pity on a poor transplanted Okie.

Go to Shuck Me and talk to Pat, he knows the lake well and usually knows what is going on. Or send me a message a couple days before you go and I will call him and see what i can find out for you.

If it will warm up, you guys can do some damage on banks that are rocky (most are), gentle sloping throwing a split shot senko rig early (or all day if its cloudy) and then a shaky head in about 6 to 10 of water when sun gets up good. Summer there is tough other than early morning kentucky topwater bite. I would be on points in mid March, Mike you are going to for sure catch it right in mid April half way back in coves or on secondary points.

I have never fished off the bank, but I would check out the Carson Creek recreation area as a place you can drive to and have a good stretch of bank to fish. I have seen some folks fishing around the Coyote Drive campsite area as well. You can also wade the river down in zone II south of the rereg dam and down around presbyterian falls. I would pick up some 3.75 inch rage swimmers and some 3/8 oz jig heads. You can fish the lower mountain fork for smallmouths with that and slow roll them on the lake as well

Right now there are quite a few shallow. Not schooling anymore but could change if we get some warm weather. Jigs fished SLOW on steep banks close to channel bends or shaky head with green pumpkin worm. Rock crawlers on points will catch some if wind is right. Should start to change quickly after next week. Call me before you come and I will help. 918-571-8881

It was tough for me last summer. Even though it's a little early I think we may find a fish or two this year. Going to give it hell one way or another.
