I have a Garmin Striker 4 and I like it. I chose it for its small size, low battery drain and small transducer. I would like to have a side image, but not so much to sacrifice on the other aspects.

My kayak has a recessed area and skid plate for the transducer... the Garmin transducer fits perfect. A side image transducer would protrude from the bottom and that would worry me.

I got mine for about $120 on Amazon and I have been very pleased. It has good graphics and has been reliable

This is the one I'm considering for my kayak. It seems like a fair deal for the price.
Cabela's has a good deal on them.

It's a good first fish finder. I've got mine on a Vibe Sea Ghost.

Thanks for the input. I went out to BPS yesterday and got one for $99.00. I will be putting it on my Yak this weekend and trying to get it on the water very soon. they seem very simple to operate. I will try to keep you posted on the outcome.

This is the one that I use because it fits my Hobie. It does not have reserve indicator, so I cannot tell you exactly how fast it drains. However, I can say that it has never left me without power

I always thought that you could just use a 12v battery like you use in a deer feeder.

I copied this guy. Put a deer feeder battery in a sealed box, and wired up a simple system.

I'm using this $15 charger, and it works perfectly.

Question.?

How many volts are needed to run my striker 4? My battery is showing 10 volts but my Garmin Striker 4 keeps going off.
