Public apology Mike Iconelli:

I wanted to take a minute to apologize to all my fans, friends, and sponsors for my behavior the last few weeks on the MLF Bass Pro tour. I acted unprofessionally and I regret it. Im extremely blessed and lucky to be able to make a living doing something I enjoy and I, by no means, take it for granted.

Im so sorry for any heartache or hard feelings this has caused. Im not making any excuses for the way I behaved. Im taking responsibility for my actions and words.

As you probably know, I have a big personality and am a passionate person, which is great when Im in a good place. But that works against me when Im not. Believe it or not, my actions were not about missing the cut twice in a row. Its bigger than that.

Unfortunately, Ive had some negative things pop up in my personal life recently, and I brought that with me out on the tournament trail. Instead of just facing these realities, I kind of bottled them up and didnt really talk to anyone about them.

Im a child of the 70s and Im a guy, and so Ive always felt embarrassed to talk about it. But truthfully, Ive dealt with a bit of depression on and off my entire life. Its very crippling.

The reality is, I spent over 200 days away from home and my family last year, and for most of my career before that, and have missed a lot of very important milestones. When the season started, I was really struggling with the idea of being on the road again, and it felt almost unbearable to me. While I knew I wasnt myself, I didnt know how to fix the problem.

As you may have witnessed, these feelings caught up with me, and the result was me lashing out.

Im getting some much-needed time at home this week with the family, and Im also getting some professional help. This has helped me refocus and wake up from my funk.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this and I look forward to the remainder of the 2019 season. Im going to try to stay positive and have fun under every circumstance!

I hope you can understand where I was, and again I want to say Im sorry. Thank you to all my fans, sponsors and my family for understanding, and thank you all for the amazing support! #nevergiveup

We all make mistakes. The majority of us are not on national TV when we do. Personally, I like to watch Ike. He does add drama to the sport of fishing but some of the guys out there are about as much fun to watch as watching paint dry. If you read his book and know his background it is much easier to give him grace.

All this sensitivity, easily offended grown men and feelings flying around is just creepy

I just DVR MLF so I can fast forward through Ike coverage. Saturday my 5 year old and i were watching a replay of the Maine tourney and Ike started screaming about a 2-5 GIANT and he leaned over and said "Dad, can you fast forward passed that guy?" Smart kid.

Boys, boys.

Let's all have a forgiving spirit. Time will tell the true measure of this man.

I do the same thing or I at least hit the mute button. When police arrest a criminal they look at his priors, well look at the priors on this guy. Then he pulls this depression thing out of his arse just to save his MLF career. He's an arrogant, short tempered, foul mouth jerk and I can only think that the people on here that defend this guy are pretty much, well you guy's know the rest.

He demonstrates several classic signs of depression, I'm not surprised by this statement. Hope he is able to stabilize his personal life.

This ^^^^

Just another CYA post to try and hold on to sponsorship/fan support. Much like the half-a**ed "apology" he offered up after his flag incident blow-up at the 2006 Classic. And how many more have there been, that did not get as much publicity because they didn't happen on national TV?
