I've got some 7' rods that were made for me a while back when the micro guide was a thing. Maybe it still is, I don't know.

I used them a few times but didn't like the guides.

The rods seem like quality rods and are in great condition so I thought about having someone replace the guides with some quality Fuji guides or equivalent. And no I'm not going to do it myself.

OR

Should I just donate them to the Bass Pro trade in bin and buy a few new ones for a couple hundred a piece?

Check out Mudhole.com. If these were custom rods you had made then the blanks are probably worth replacing the guides. And you can do it yourself in a few evenings for less than what a good rod is going to cost you even after the Basspro trade in.

Micro guides are stupid (I'm an olds, so "stupid" means dumb, not awesome). For someone that has never wrapped rods before, the job would be a real PITA. Unless you're wanting to get into building rods, I would sell them. Do you know what kind of blanks they are?

If you like the blanks otherwise, then have a rod builder cut those guides off and put some new ones on for you. If they were custom built, you'll never get close to your money back by selling them.

Check with Kevin Smith of Shamrock rods. He has some guides he puts on all of my custom made MHX Rod blanks that seem to be in between the micro guides and the old style guides. Love them.

can't go wrong with Kevin at Shamrock Rods. He replace micro eyes on two of my rods. Much cheaper than buying new rods.

I have had Kevin redo several of my rods and I go with a #5 except the first guide. For the OP it will cost you less to put new guides on versus a new rod unless you are buying really cheap rods.
