Caught this Opp while Crappie fishing (on a 1/16 oz. Jig) this past Tuesday on Cedar Creek lake.
I was hungry for fish and the Crappie weren't cooperating I decided to clean it
I was somewhat surprised when I saw the size of the Cats late night snack!
I have seen yellow bass, black bass sand bass crappie and even turtles and everything in between in larger cats even a chunk of wood lol.. but this was a mouthful ...The cat weighed around 37 lbs. I couldnt find my accurate scale but that's pretty vlose....

As you can see the "snack" was nearly 13 inches and didnt look like it would have fit in the cats mouth..
Not sure why he was interested in smal jig. Be he made the mistake of heading for open water. Then it was just a matter of time and whither the line would hold up on a bail reel with all the twisting going on.

I saw a huge cat throw up a big crappie recently. 40lb cats eat what they can catch.
If I am a big cat I grab by the head and hold its gills closed until it dies. Then swallow!

Not surprising. Caught a big blue on Texoma several years ago and it had a bigger striper in it.

Not surprising, but still a good story. Thanks for sharing the pics, too.

Good to know.

I have caught quite a few flatheads between 15-65 lbs. over the last 10 years. I like to target them in the fall and early winter.

I have never caught one with anything in their stomach. I knew they ate big meals just haven't seen it myself.

10 pound Flattie can chomp a 1-2 pound carp no problem. Reason why you use big baits for fishing for flatheads.

Always impressive when I see and hear things like this...more motivation when I am chucking those monster swimbaits for bass
