I had new customer James G. group of 4 onboard tonight. Conditions were nice, with NW wind at 5mph, normal tide levels, and dense fog. With a cold front due in at midnight and rain/storms expected by 10pm, I knew I had to find fish quick before the weather got bad. The light NW winds gave me a rare chance to look at areas that I don't normally get to gig, and it paid off big. After a short boat ride from the dock, we landed right on the flounder over hard sand bottom, gigging 15 fish in the first hour. The action slowed down due to poor water clarity, but we still found our last 5 fish in the next hour, getting a 20 flounder limit by 8:30pm. After getting our flounder limit we went looking for drum/sheepshead. The thick fog made it tough fishing on productive open-water reef areas, and getting turned around and lost became a real problem. After looking for drum/sheepshead for over an hour in the fog, and not finding anything, we decided to head in before the rain and cold front hit.
