I dont fish in Florida, but here on the upper Texas coast.
My tips would be to look for fish sign. Cover some beach. Here we can drive on the many of the beaches and I will drive along until I see something that catches my eye. It could be bait being harassed, birds diving, something that points to predator activity.
Look for rip currents and breaks in the sand bars. Predator fish exploit these areas. Look for especially deep first guts. There is nothing uniform about the beach front and the structure changes daily with the waves, currents and wind so move along until the structure is more favorable.
Dont randomly cast at nothing. Pick targets and know what you are trying to do. If you want to fish the edge of the bar, do that. The middle of the gut, do that. Try a few different spots and repeat the presentation. Some days, often its a specific presentation the fish are looking for so you want to know what you did to be able to repeat it.

Slow down your presentation. I fly fish the surf and drifting a shrimp or baitfish pattern in the current can be very effective. If its a walk the dog style topwater, try long pauses between short runs of walking the dog. Try a suspending type plug and do a twitch or two, then just let it drift. Everyone seems to be in a mad rush to cover water, but many times, the slow approach is what is needed.
Dont pass on murky or sandy surf. That might not be an issue in some regions, but we get plenty of days with less than clear water. If the bait is there, theres often the predators not far behind. Fish can find your lure or fly even in water with a foot or less of visibility.
