I'm off next week and was thinking about going to a few places to try and catch some fish for the grease. I haven't gotten out much lately but with the time off, I will definitely be getting on the water. My question is, where to go near the Fort Worth area. I would drive a reasonable distance and make a day trip out of it as well. Also, what would be good lures to use this time of year? Thanks for any and all help!

All of the feeder creeks in the area should have some males moving up. I would start there and if I don't find any maybe go to the main lake and look for them there.

Lewisville is producing fish (deep) but for the most part they are smaller. Texoma is kind of hit or miss for me lately. Seems like we hammer them one day and then blank the next. Cant quite figure it out. Id suggest fishing really deep right now on whatever lake you go to. The males in the creeks are not going to be consistent like the deeper fish are. that will change in about two weeks though.

Texoma would by my #1 thought for sure and my choice for the upcoming week if I can make it happen, a guide trip there would really up you chances for a great trip, consider the cost both ways for a day trip they add in the success factor.

For the most part, too early for creeks unless you like catching 5-9” winter crop fish/scouts, there are a few with fish, but most are empty. I’ve had great luck on Hubbard deadsticking sassy shad this time of year on the humps, lake temps are still in the 40s, so most of the fish are going to be deep.
