The bolts are on the bottom, not on top of the bed! I believe their are 6 or 8 bolts! A bedliner has nothing to do with taking the bolts out unless you sprayed underneath the truck... Unplug the big light connector on the left rear, remove bolts from underneath and if you want to do it by yourself, jack the driver side of the bed up and stick some blocks between the bed and frame and you can access the top of the fuel tank!

Nuts are underneath. Sure do thank you for the info. My next question is this.I have been looking on Ebay for the complete assy. I see the metal assy's and I see the sending unit assy on some that are POLY/Plastic. Anyone tried the poly ones. There is a lot of difference between $60 for the poly one and $250 plus for the complete metal assy.

I think most are plastic housings... Never seen an issue with plastic! You might look at Rockauto. I buy quite a bit from them. Same part numbers, but cheaper priced! I would'nt be afraid of poly!

i'm thinking the 4.6 will all be a metal supported pump assy but wouldn't be surprised if there was one with a plastic support. i would want metal though. i saw them (metal supported) on amazon from 60 bucks to partsgeek at 90, so i'm sure you can find one in that range from mail order like am auto, rockauto etc. the one thing you will need to make sure is it either comes with a new sock (pump filter on the bottom of the pump) or purchase a new one. you really don't want to use the old sock

An old Datsun pick up had a door in the bed above the wiring and access to the tank, fuel pump .
