Zebco 33 combo with 10# line. That's been my setup for over 50 years and the nice thing about it is they are cheap so you can buy 3 or 4 and tie on different colored or types of jigs without having to retie. White bass fishing isn't rocket science to be honest with you!
Just one more cast!

This is going to come down to personal preference and how you're targeting them. For river/creek fishing, casting small lures, I like a 6'6" medium action spinning rod. The Abu Garcia Silver Max combo is hard to beat for the price, in my opinion. I've got a couple of them and really like them. I prefer a 7' medium action bait cast set up for slabbing.

Get a 7 foot medium weight spinning rod. Put a spinning reel on it with 20 pound braid. It will fish and catch anything you want.

Don't forget the flourocarbon leader on the end of the braid.

For one pole, my all around pick is the Pflueger President with a medium 6-7' rod. The combo is on sale at Cabelas/BPS for $59.99, so you basically get the medium 6' or 7' rod free. It is a 1 piece rod btw. I like the 30 model for general purpose, but you might need the 35 or 40 if you want a bigger reel and want to run heavier line.
The Silver Max, as said above, is decent too. Around the same money. I don't love the rod that comes with it or the President, but they'll definitely do the job. The Sedona's are real nice, but I don't like the faster gear ratio. Shakespeare, Shimano Sienna, etc. will do the job too if you're on a cheaper budget. I shy away from modern spincasts after buying two of them. A 33 was my all-around workhorse for two decades, but they don't make them like they used to. I want to give the Omega a shot, but not at the price.
A light rod is more fun, especially in the creeks, but medium is a good general purpose

Cabelas Whuppin Stick Combo 6'6".......Academy Tournament Choice Classic 7’ Med with Shimano Sienna 40......work for me, also my channel cat combos......... they are a cpl years Old - think Tournament Choice is phasing out and H2O brand is taking its place....... I prefer catching Sandbass on my 7’ Light Spinning combo tho....... I just went out to the garage to remind myself the brand and it's Gone - Now I remember I loaned it to a Buddy last Spring when Sandies were up in the creeks. I need to get it back. Cheap 7' Light are hard to find but Walmart or Academy had it a few years Ago - can't remember the Brand - I put a 30 series spinning reel on it. I'm thinking a 8' ProAngler crappie rod might be a Fun Sandbass rod ? - but I pretty much only target them in creeks in the Spring........... Berkley C-Series Crappie rod 7' Light might be Fun.?

Any Med LT, Med, or MH will work fine with a baitcaster on it spooled with 10 lb line. We were at Academy getting the kid some new baseball cleats and I noticed that they had a rack of the Lews MAch 1 Combos on sale for $79.00, they showed to normally be $149.00. That's a great setup for Sandies.

I can't recall the brand of the rod, but I have a hand full of rods that I bought from Academy for $5 a pop. Those rods have caught more whites than I can count.
So for me, the cheapest/medium light rod you can get. That lighter action rod will allow you to put more "dance" in your bait when you want to.

I like a 7ft med light rod with a 1000 series spinning reel. Spool it with 6lb test line and your good to go. Sandies are not tackle busters so heavy equipment is not required.

For the way I fish for sandies (swimming a #4 Mepps Aglia spinner up trough them from the bottom), I prefer a smooth reel and a shorter rod because it shakes less. My favorite combo is a Lew's TS1SHMB Baitcaster reel on a 5 ft 6 in H2O Express Angler rod using 10 or 12 lb Berkley VANISH Transition red or gold tinted fluorocarbon line.

all you need is a shimano 2500 size spinning reel ( your choice of price starting at 29 bucks) some 10 pound green big game and a 61-ft 6 inch medium rod- your choice of quality!you will be set to catch sandies, black bass and inshore salt water fish. also ready for creek fishing in the mountains for trout!!quality lasts longer but 60 to 70 bucks should set you up real good/ spring is almost here!!
