January 2019 marked my 25th anniversary of guiding and 2019 has been above par so far. We had a couple of windless weird days but other than that it’s been pretty dang good with lots of large fish being caught even a few over 20 pounds! I remember just a couple short years ago having a conversation with Captain Steve Barnes and him telling me the lake will be back before you know it and I really wasn’t surely if she could rebound as fast as it did but she sure did and Captain Steve was right about this one. Using soft baits to catch fish mainly from www.mtpocketstackle.com Charlie Will make any kind a jig head you want and has all kinds a soft baits at great prices! Also been getting Some custom paint jigs from a Nebraska guy named Mick Goc www.fisheyelures.com or via Facebook to check his stuff out. They have sucked the lake down FAST but all is good. Even with all the muddy water fishing is great most days. Some days we even catch em in the brown water. Use dark colors in the mud. It’s been a big dead stick winter for sure but I’ve been still catching the bulk of my stripers working structure casting lures my favorite thing to do in the winter. Temps are 44-47 looking forward to some warming days. Also want to give a shout out to my boys at six gill www.sixgillfishing.com They are producing some of the lightest perfect combos I’ve ever fished with. JOSH CRAFT 37” 25#

Congrats on 25 years of fantastic guiding/fishing and even after all these years the passion is still there and maybe even more intense.

How'd you guys do yesterday during the Fog Fest? Those poor H.S. Bass fisherman really had it tough.

Thanks everybody I appreciate it. January was actually my 25th anniversary. my dad fished the lake in the 70s was a part-time weekend warrior guide at first and went full-time guide in 1983. Hadn’t got out the past couple of days wondering if this brutal cold moved em.
