I have always carried a few in the tackle box, but like so many baits, they kind of find their way to the back of tackle storage and eventually are forgotten. Probably like a lot of you, I fell victim to dock talk and too much reading about how these baits were "cold water" baits and were at their best in late winter and early spring. That changed back in May 2017 when I saw Hank Cherry and Brent Ehrler catching between 50-100 fish a day in the Caney area of Rayburn during Toyota BassFest, or whatever the name of that tournament was. Granted, the lake and grass set up perfect as far as the depth those baits were working at, but still, it was Mid May and they were killin em, blowing the "cold water" theory out of the water. I have since opened myself up to trying them more often. No huge fish yet. For me it has been feast or famine. When they are on it, there is nothing better! Other times have been fruitless. I guess the one lesson I have learned is to keep an open mind with them and always give them at least a chance, no matter what time of year.

Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.

been throwing them my entire life. waaayyyy before they were the cool thing to throw..
Biggest fish is just shy of 10 but have no idea how many "big" fish I've caught on it.
Way back when Fork had grass, you'd get your arm broke twitching it just above the grass in the spring..

what about water color do you need fairly clear water or are they productive in stained to muddy water also ?

Have a megabass vision 110 tied on all the time. Pro blue for clear or french pearl for overcast or stained water. these are the staples.
also will throw a LC Pointer.

Shoot jerkbait is my confidence bait on a lake that has even marginally clear water. I keep one tied on year round. I throw certain brands certain times of the year. I've caught NUMEROUS ones up to 9 on a jerkbait. Buddy got an 11 on one at Raven couple years ago.

Okie I'll be tossing this one on Palestine in the morning. Haven't had a sniff on it yet the few times I've thrown it on Rayburn, but I haven't given up, it's a 1 oz bait. Big boy, probably will catch a 13 maybe 14 incher grin

The Kanata is money. It really shines ripping it through grass.

Most of my jerkbait baits come when I am not moving the lure. Hard for me to have the patience. I mean, what kind of damn bait just sits there waiting to be eaten?

I was hoping you'd chime in Mark. The "nose up" action is different and the wavy sides have to be putting off a different pulse in the water. Plus the size of it, it moves some water. I'm convinced it will catch, but I'm not convinced I've thrown it around big fish yet.

It's our full grown model for sure. It does not suspend like a 110. Its a beast. Big fish finder too.
