a few observations between the Roomba and iRobot :

Both are about equal in terms of getting stuck on things. You have to move or block paths to things to avoid this. Older irobots used magnetic strips to designate room boundaries, a short length of this came with robot and more could be purchased. I don't believe Roomba offered anything to set boundaries

Both have relatively small paths from the brush to dust bin, can get easily blocked by small leaves, bits of paper etc. Normal dust dirt and hair is usually handled fine.

Both require regular cleaning for the brushes and the electronic eyes.

Irobot seem to have a much larger dust bin. As noted by others the dust bins can fill up quick.

Biggest difference is iRobot tries to set a pattern to clean a room, roomba simply moves in a random path, iRobot tends to finish quicker.

As another post said, we have Dyson vac too, and our robot can be run right after a room was cleaned by the regular vac and will sometimes find a surprising amount of chit, especially on carpets.

Just a word of advice. If you have a pet, be very careful with these robotic vacuums. I had a dog get sick with the inevitable mess. Didn�t realize until later but the roomba did it�s job and went right over the top and what a mess! After trying to clean it up and finally taking it apart, we called Roomba and they said it�s toast. Not much to do except by another one. A good $500 in the trash can so be careful...

I had a Roomba for many years, even had to replace the battery one time, It was about 7 years old. Worked great on wood and tile floors, which is all my downstairs except the Master Bedroom is.

Lighting hit my house a few years ago and burned out a lot of my electronics. My wife doesn't work so she keeps the house and floor clean now of days, but overall I was impressed with the Roomba.

We have the Roomba 890 and the thing is a BEAST. I'm amazed at what all it sucks up day after day. So not only is it great because it runs itself but it is actually a really good vacuum cleaner.

We got ours from Bed Bath and Beyond and used one of the 20% coupons they send us every other day

Roomba is iRobot

We have an older roomba that we have replaced the battery once, the brush once every yea,r and the roller twice, we have had it for 10 years. I bought my wife an EUFY slim from amazon this year. It has two brushes and a roller, it also can go under our couches and beds a lot easier than the old roomba. The EUFY has a clean the borders feature where it will just run parallel to the wall and with all wood floor and inside labs that's where all the hair seems to collect. We still have to use the upright every now and then but if we run them twice a week, for the most part the robots keep it clean.

We have two roombas (the north end of the house is one step up from the main living areas). They do a pretty good job of keeping the cat hair cleaned up, but they're not as quiet as the advertising would lead you to believe.

I have 3 kids under 6 years old and a cocker spaniel that all track in a surprising amount of sand every day. Wife sweeps daily, sometimes twice a day. We've been looking at getting a roomba or other similar device but really don't know if it could keep up with our mess. What do y'all think?

We wouldn't have such a mess if we had grass in our yard but we live on a ranch in the famed Wild Horse Desert and our well water seems to have too much mineral in it and is not good for the grass when I've watered it.

I feel like I know you now, what's the water taste like?

I like it, tastes fine. Wife won't drink it because when she makes tea and lets it sit it will separate, kinda like oil and water but without the oil.

I've got a basic roomba. I think it was $299 at Bestbuy. Yesterday was the first time I turned it on as I was walking out of the apartment. Up to now I've watched it run to see if it gets hung up anywhere.

Came home, place was vacuumed and it was back on it's charger. I'm impressed and carpet looked great.

Easy Peasy

We've had the iRobot Roomba 960 since Christmas '17. My wife loves it and has said more than once that it's the best Christmas gift she has received.

I have two pit bulls, the first time that vacuum fired up and started scooting across the floor it would be in a hundred pieces.
