This is correct. Look on youtube for how to install directv now on a firestick, you will find the information you need.

And BTW, Yes I have three adult children, but one of them only has local channels and a firestick, one only has local channels and does movies somehow, the other Travels a lot so he just watches whatever the hotel has is he does watch TV, and his wife the new attorney says she just doesn't watch TV enough to know about anything buy regular direct TV, so my youngs are not much help, and I'm ok with that.

Does the ROKU make a WiFi connection to the router?

Yeah, but you have to log in to the WiFi.

Yeah, but you have to log in to the WiFi.
A smart tv eliminates the need for a ROKU/Firestick device then?

Ok we did go with direc tv now and so far think this is going be a big win-
Feeding 3 devises for $45 a month-
Using the fire stick as my remote control-
Really like what Im seeing so far-
And the content seems more clear than it does on my regular direct TV-
If this works out we may switch over to that sling thing, its seems cheaper and still gets what we watch-

Not necessarily as there are at least five different television operating systems. That is why you see most people using an aftermarket box or firestick, because they are android systems and most apps are set up for android. I will also say that if you are going to use internet based live tv, you will get less buffering if it is connected via a lan wire instead of wireless

I just dropped DIRECTV and signed up for DIRECTV NOW. It was a good decision and is saving me $160 a month. Took a little getting used to, but well worth it. I did have to buy a few Roku boxes and download the apps on all the TVs

I'm curious what the Roku boxes did for you?
