So my last day with Citi will be Wednesday... after 20 years that will be it.

I have my 5th (yes 5th!) interview with a new company tomorrow. Originally was supposed to be with the CEO and his Sr. team but the recruiter just called and told me his travel plans changed and we will meet on the phone later this week.

BUT she (recruiter) would like me to go "have lunch" with the 4 VPs tomorrow. These are the folks who would be reporting directly to me. So an interview your perspective boss type of thing? Or meet at greet at least if not an interview.

My dilemma with the dress code, the place we are meeting for lunch is a pretty casual. This is a sports entertainment company. Sports entertainment on one side and technology on the other side anyways when I went for the the two in person interviews I wore a suit as one does for a director level role right?? Well both times was told that the suit is unnecessary. Was subtle the first time but the second interview when I interviewed with the guy who would be my direct boss one of the first things he said was "You can take that sh** off if you want...No I am serious that is really not required at all take that sh** off if you want..."

I would not call this company a start up...they are a household name but they are growing like one and have that mentality still clearly. They as much said so. Their culture is very different that the 225 year old bank I have been at for so long. Much younger overall, I was for sure one of the older guys I saw in their office.

So the suit if sure out... so I am thinking, the high end option is slacks and a polo or maybe a dress shirt? Or do we jeans with a polo or dress shirt or what do yall think. Since I know you guys are the most knowledgeable on fashion and what they kids at start ups are wearing these days...

Blue jeans and sport coat with a polo shirt ought to work.

I'm on my first cup of coffee and not awake, but my gut says keep wearing a suit. Hard to think they would ding you for it now, and that seems like a logical safe choice. If they did ding you for it, that would seem overly petty and would tell you all you need to know about working there.

Good luck Dan

It's still an 'interview'. I'd go with slacks and a button up. Problem is, if it's cold, you'll want to go long sleeve on the shirt. But the rule, I think, is that if it's long sleeve, you wear a tie. Short sleeve = no tie.

The Journey t-shirt is excellent advice. I might add ball it up the night before and make sure it is good and wrinkled. Skinny jeans and a cloth colored rainbow belt with one of those old school Boy Scout clasps. Man bun and three day beard and you got this.

I'd go with slacks and sport coat. Polo shirt if weather allows, otherwise long sleeve dress shirt and NO tie.

I'd pass on the jeans and either go with a suit and no tie, or at least slacks/nice kahikis and a dress shirt again no time. Also I hate short sleeve dress shirts so I'd avoid that.

This is my thought. I was thinking jeans, long sleeve dress shirt no tie and dress shoes.

I think my debate is with the pants... slacks of nice jeans?

Oh yeah I do not even own a short sleeve dress shirt. Its polos or a proper long sleeved shirt.

Lunch interview with young VPs. Cold weather
Nice restaurant. Shirt dress slacks sports coat. No tie
Average restaurant. Shirt dress pants sweater

You’d probably be fine with a golf shirt and khakis; but, the default is to be over dressed, not under
