I have a helix 9 chirp mega si g2n.
The depth is reading incorrectly. It was professionally installed updates have been checked. The unit has been set up. Has anybody experienced this issue.

Hope they fix it soon! My Helix 9 Chirp Mega DI GPS G2N with the 1.840 software is just about useless in water shallower than 6 feet. Worst part about it will not correct itself when I get deeper than 6 feet. I have to reboot the unit. Even if I'm in water deeper than 6 feet and is there is something shallower (like grass) it will go bonkers again. Last time I had it out, I ended up just turning it off about halfway through the day. Next time I go out, I don't even think I will take it. Way too frustrating.

There are a few things you can do to help it. Increase Surface clutter slightly, Switch Digital Depth Source from 2D element to Auto, decrease the sensitivity of your 2D slightly. The 1/840 update was supposed to fix the bouncing bottom issue, but it won't in all cases. Also only using your 200 kHz freq will help. It is important to remember that your 2D sonar is pretty much useless in 6 feet of water. The 200 kHz beam is only 2 foot wide in 6 feet of water and that is one 1 feet in all directions from the transducer. So unless a fish is within 11 inches of the transducer, it will not show on the screen. At that depth, your lure is looking for fish, not the sonar.

I have a Solix 12 and while I was on the water last September, the depth went crazy. In 16 feet of water (per another unit on the boat) the Solix showed 1409 feet of water. I called Humminbird and they said it would be fixed in the next software update. I haven't had my boat in the water again until today. This morning I updated to the latest software but I am still having the exact same issue. The only way I can get a bottom reading at all is to max out the sensitivity. It is the same on Side Imaging, 2D and Down Imaging. While on the lake today, I restored factory defaults about 3-4 times, restored sonar settings twice. Nothing worked. My unit messed up on the second day I had ever used it! I bet it had no more than 8-10 total hours on it. I tried calling customer service, but of course they are closed on the weekends. Any suggestions?
