We are doomed!
Received from an old used up Marine friend.
Quote:
I went to the local grocery store today and bought a couple of items, The total for both items came to $10.06 and I decided to use my Wells Fargo Debit card as I had just a few dollars in cash in my pocket and I like to usually carry around $50.00. My choices for "cash back" were $20, $40, or $60.00. I decided on $60.00. So far no problems. The young cashier, a very attractive young blond, by the way, asked me how I wanted the cash. Attempting to be clever, I said, "A fifty and twenty would be great." She didn't respond and handed me $70.00, a $50 and a $20. I immediately attempted to show the young lady she had made a mistake. An Assistant manager was standing nearby and asked me if there was a problem. I showed him my receipt and tried to explain the problem. He just held up his hand, says, "Sir, I understand." He then opened the cash register and handed me six cents and said he was sorry for the mistake and told me to have a great day. The young blond just glared at me and said, "I hope you are happy now." Well, I guess it must be new math or something. I left the store with $70.06 more than I arrived with when I came into the store. I had the items I thought I was going to purchase and my checking account had been debited the $70.06. To my way of thinking I came out $10.06 ahead since I did not pay for anything but what do I know, I am just a grumpy old Marine.
Unquote.
Added the requisite "h".
As to if I believe this actually happened, the answer is yes.

I love it when the bill is say $13.27 and you give them a 20, 3 ones, and 27cents so as to get back a 10. They look at it, eyes glaze over, and the calculator comes out.

I would love to find just one young person that knows how to make change without using a calculator.

Unquote. You actually believe this happened don't you? And you know it didn't for a fact? I guess you know Mike, the "grumpy old Marine", as well and as long as I have. Tell me, what squadron did you two serve together?

In the years that I managed convenience stores, I had employees do spectacularly dumb things with money.
Yeah, I can see this happening.

Why would someone type the words quote and unquote instead of actually using the “ “ marks?

So this grumpy marine didn’t have the ethics to give the $10 back?

Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.
