Is Okaloosa Island and Destin the same thing?

Okaloosa is a little quieter than Destin, but yes, just across the bridge from Destin.

Understood.

Leaning towards going there this summer instead of flying to an island or going on a cruise.

I lived in Pensacola for a few years and loved it. Lived in Morehead City, NC and the beach there was ok. Only Pacific beach I went to was in bootcamp and it consisted of like 10 mile hike in shin deep water then 10 miles back soaking wet in ankle deep sand .

Been to St Thomas. It was beautiful. Been to Playa Del Carmen and it was ok.

I guess Pensacola is my current favorite.

If you ever get a chance, go to Grace Bay on Turks and Caicos. Most incredible beach and crystal clear water I've ever seen. Sorry, it's not CONUS.

Gulf Shores, Pensacola, Fort Walton, Panama City, Destin.

Crowds don't bother me once I am in my chair and have a drink in my hand.

Not much better sand then those white beaches in Destin area.

Good fishing too.

If you want privacy the National Seashore extends probably 20 miles between Pensacola and Navarre. There is a public access point about halfway that has showers, bathrooms, and shelters. Hardly anyone there on weekdays. Of course if you are willing to hike a mile or two you can have you own private beach. Ft picken is like that too only it’s a little pricy to get a family in.

Ft Walton on Okaloosa Island is nice
we spent a week in the condo,
I try to get walking distance to the pier and it is pretty fun fishing, but can be crowded
Been to Panama City a couple times but but like Ft Walton better
better start looking for a room now
