you are doing something wrong then. My medicare is like $142/mo plus my advantage plan which is about $42/mo. I have no deductable, and Rx coverage.

Agree that Bob's price sounds high, but he may be looking at supplemental plans instead of your advantage-type plan, and supplemental plans will have higher premiums but much lower deductibles and/or co-pays. I started looking last month and the cost seemed to be about $140 for Part B, $100 for a Part C supplemental (Plan G) and $15-$30 for Part D.

don't kow how much lower you could get. I have zero deductible, and copays are like $10 for pcp and $25 for a specialist. Almost all of my rx's are under $12

I am referring to the medical services (Part B) co-pay, not prescription drugs.

Yes, I did something wrong. I made some good money 2 years ago and have to pay for it a while. You're young to be on Medicare.

I have a friend who is 53 and a veteran. Lives in Conroe. His medical care is free through the VA and just as good if not better than my Blue Cross PPO. He has Type I diabetes and has had a heart attack. Pays nothing for medicine or doctor visits.

Yep, you are correct Mr. Scag. I plan to take the Medigap too instead of the advantage plan. But mainly, for your Part B premium, the gov. goes back two years and looks at your income. I made some mistakes. No one told me about the 2 year thing.

I pay $10k a year and my employer pays $15k. For myself, wife, and son. All healthy with 1-2 minor doctor visits a year. Great system we have!! I get to take care of indigents that dont pay a dime and come to the ER 1-2 times a month for any and everything!

Yes, I'm treating it as a business expense, which is why I merely said 'painful'.

They also take into consideration what you draw out of IRS and other investments plus SS and your medicare will go up on income.

Uncle Zeek, what they don't tell you is the rates go up as you get older & become a higher risk.

Try the same coverage at 55 or 60.

Oh, I know. We have a Blue Cross plan we provide our employees (yes, I'm going to see if it makes more sense to just add me to that policy). It's not bad for the younger & middle aged ones, but it's hellishly expensive for those 55+ ones.

It could be worse. The current limit on age banding is 3:1, they wanted to raise it to 5:1 a couple years ago.
