Just curious. Has anyone noticed a difference in the way black crappie vs. white crappie react?
Are there any methods that black crappie prefer that white crappie don't, and vice versa?
Do white crappie prefer a different structure than black crappie do?
Has anyone discovered any notable differences?

Seems to me the black crappie hang in the clearer part of the lake and the white like the stained water better...

I agree with jig man. West side of Lewisville is more off color and is almost all white crappie, but when I go to east side or down near dam, I predominantly catch black crappie.
Preserving Texas fishing heritage one lure at a time.

When you get to the point of asking that question you are on your way to bigger things. congratulations!
The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

Black and white crappie hang out in different places. Black crappie tend to be in clearer water and will be mostly on bottom stuff such as rocks, grass and brush while white crappie tend to be more on vertical stuff like timber and bridges in more off color water. They will mix in but that is the general idea. I can target each species if I prefer and in general the closer to the dam you get the more blacks you will catch.

I've not really noticed a reaction difference but I do believe the blacks put up a little better fight.
