Looking for a recommendation for a good traveling casting rod to keep on the truck as a back up.

Find the best 2 piece rod that fits your overall fishing needs most of the time. That's gonna fit in the back of your truck just fine. St. Croix makes a few nice and reasonably priced 2 piece rods.

Check at BPS as they have several brands and sizes to choose from and the come in 3 and 4 piece rods. I've used BPS Extreme 6'6" MH and Cabellas 7' MH, also Browning 7'MH and Browning 7'H. Used them all several times down on Lake El Salto in Mexico without any issues. All come wrapped in a cloth bag with compartments for each piece and then all inside a hard travel case. Got them all at BPS and/or Cabellas.

Tackle Tour did a review of a Daiwa Ardito travel rod and awarded it Best Value and Editor's Choice awards. On the TT site go to Review Archive and scroll down (past the reel section) to the Daiwa segment. They tested a 7.5 ft. rod. I don't know what other lengths it's made in.
