Considering upgrading boats to possibly 2014 to 2018 FX or ZX. Is the FX worth the extra $$? Is there a big difference in quality or ride? Any opinions?

Thanks

To me, personally, no. I have laid under both hulls at fun n sun and looked them both over from front to back. The core components of the boats are top notch and basically identical. If you want all the bells and whistles then by all means do so. I just can't see myself fishing out of a new zx and ever feeling like I'm missing out on something.

I've fished in both and own a 2016 FX21LE ( which is for sale in the boat section) and there is a big difference when riding in rough water.
Even my friend who just bought a 2018 ZX 250 notices the difference and is wishing he would of bought a FX.
If your going to spend that much money don't settle. I'm not a fan of the Layout on the new Skeeters.
You will like the layout and Livewells better on the 2014 vs. the 2018. but that is MY opinion. Good luck

Call Cliff at Texas Boat World and see what he thinks. He is a great guy and will shoot you straight. I would look into buying a new Triton, they have together this year.

Ive run both boats. The FX is a way smoother ride. But the ZX is not bad if you get the 250. As far as interior goes. The FX has way more bells and whistles.

Why would skeeter put out a hull that doesnt ride well if they have it figured out on the FX? 70 grand isnt enough to get a good ride.

In the 21 foot both hulls are the same it is just the top cap and interior that is different. Don't let them fool you! It is just a choice if you like the deck layout better on the ZX or the FX and all the bells and whistles you get with the FX. Resale is good on both but the price of the ZX used fits way more peoples budget and I think is easier to sell. Great boats either way. I had 3 FX boats and now a ZX. I do like the the team deck lay out on the ZX better. Good luck!

I own 18 zx250. The bottom is identical to the FX and Ive toured the factory and from I believe He said 16 up only the top cap and deck is different. Ive ridden in 18 FX21 and I cant tell a difference in ride. But I can Tell you I was Stupid for not just getting the FX21. By time Im done rigging my ZX like I like it Ill be at where I was On a FX21

I bought a 19' ZX250 in the fall, and love it. I don't think you will be disappointed for the price.

Yep. No disrespect meant but those that say one is faster, smoother, dryer...than the other just have never compared the two side by side on identical conditions, with the set up an/or with the same driver. Just have to compare apples to apples. Layout? Different. Price? Different!

This is correct! I traded in a 2006 20I for a 2016 250 ZX because I wanted to upgrade to a four stroke and I got a great trade in value for the ten year old boat. I toured the factory and discussed with the Skeeter employee the differences and it is not the lower hull. The hulls are essentially the same if not identical. The cap, deck layout, finish of compartments were different. Electronics, Power Poles and digital dashboard were notable upgrades on the FX. So I gave up these upgrades one gets with the FX but purchased the Yamaha engine interface cable to monitor engine output on my Lowrance units for data such as engine hours, tilt/trim, engine pressure, RPM etc. In terms of performance, I've not ridden in an FX but my ZX 250 is smooth riding in rough water and much more so than the old 20I. I upgraded some things and spent more up front money than the MSRP but got on the water for thousands less than the ZX. I couldn't justify the additional expense.

What do yall think about the Apex21 advertised at around $15000 off in magazines.

Top of the line EVERYTHING for mid 60s. [Linked Image]

Edit....wrong. Low 70s after $2500 rebate.

15 Solix, 12 Solix, 65 112 Ultrex, linked and networked, Yamaha interface, 18 wheels in the upgraded trailer, ust colors and dual color matched Blades, and everything else associated with top of the line options.

Is that a recent development? Because I know the older models had different hulls (2010-2013) The interiors were almost identical between the ZX and FX but the hulls were much different.

Check with Diamond Sports and look at a 21FX guide boat. They roll them every 6 months and are licensed at warrantied as new.

Looks like it comes with a top-of-the-line, custom fanny pack as well...

Edit.....wrong. Back above 80 when they add freight, dealer prep, and TT&L.

A few more questions.....For those of you that have had both the new ZX layout and the other deck layout, do you feel like you have more storage or about the same. Do you like the new layout?
