Well I cheated today, I started catching them on a little Panther Martin before they started stocking them. I was limited out in about 30 minutes. Let several little ones go free. No luck with the fly rod but all I had was an olive wooly bugger with no bead head. There were only 7 of us there. Had smoked trout for lunch.

Able to make the run to Bethany Lakes (Allen) Friday afternoon. Bite was slow on fishing flies at first. Did see others doing well with bait and Power Worms. Bite picked up later as the trout started feeding on something hatching as well as bread and other floating baits. Olive Near Deere did well. No strike indicator needed; movement was key as well as striking as soon as the line showed any sign of a twitch or pull from a trout striking! Blog Post....

Well I guess I’m going to have to make a trip out that way. It’s hard to do when I have been doing so well going north. I would like to check it out at least

Broke down and went with PowerBait after no strikes on the fly.... Fished for Rainbow Trout on Sunday December 23, 2018. Tried catching them on the fly rod but no takers. Bite was steady but not the fast-paced action we normally see at the little pond. Fishing partner found the pattern using Ultralight Spinning Gear and one of simple PowerBait Rigs we use. See our article on PowerBait rigs.... Trout wanted Orange Trout Dough Bait in a Salmon Egg scent. Did bring the Water Wolf Camera and got some underwater footage of the trout to include one that we were able to hook and land. Really nice day with lots of sun although the wind kicked up on us; no worries,... bundled up well. MERRY CHRISTMAS! Steady Trout Fishing at Waterloo Sunday

Anyone fish here for trout - Carrollton Sports Complex? Getting questions has to where the pond is located. No directions on the TWPD site but did find info on the Community Fishing Lakes section.

Anyone fish here for trout - Carrollton Sports Complex? Getting questions has to where the pond is located. No directions on the TWPD site but did find info on the Community Fishing Lakes section. I tried this place Saturday morning. The red square map marker on the TWPD site shows it being the smaller pond near the baseball fields but I learned my lesson with trusting those markers (see South Lakes Park Pond). I was there pretty early Saturday and didn't see anyone which I thought was odd so I went to the larger pond behind the library. Another fisherman happened to be getting out of his vehicle as I parked so I asked him if it (it being the pond behind the library) was the stocked trout pond and he said yes. I spent about 40 minutes there with no luck on Powerbait; I saw other anglers fishing the bank .... but the weird part is I was almost certain they were bass fishing. I figured I'd trust my own instincts and go back to the smaller pond... there were about 3 other folks there now and definitely trout fisherman. Spent about an hour there, no luck either on Powerbait. Didn't see anyone else catching either. So honestly, it's still a mystery to me, although I'd probably bet on it being that smaller pond. Nobody caught anything but that doesn't seem out of the ordinary since it was stocked the weekend prior - for instance I've fished South Lakes 2 times a week AFTER the stocking date and was skunked both times (and both times the fisherman around me were also catching zilch). But then again, I noticed South Lakes is stocked consistently throughout the winter whereas CSC is only that last weekend of December and then again in February... given the gaps in stocking dates you'd figure the place shouldn't be cleaned out after just 1 weekend, right?

I would happily settle for some 8" trout at this point. I'm heading for Blue River in the morning. I live only about 35 miles from there, and in the last two years I have been skunked the few times I went. Hopefully I will finally have some success. Best I can recall, I haven't had a fish on the end of my line since September or early October. This is no way to spend my retirement.
Larry Maybe you should go back to work Larry???

The mighty Blue was generous this morning, yielding these six keepers and a couple dozen throwbacks. All the bigger ones caught in early morning on spinning tackle; caught a couple smaller trout with the fly rod and a Prince nymph in the late morning.
