All the lakes i fish are flooded or are chocolate milk right now, was thinking about heading over to BP for some fun fishing. How has the hybrid fishing been? And lake condition?

I drove over the bridge yesterday, and the lake was only slightly stained. The zebra mussels are pretty bad at this point, and the water was getting really clear with their presence. The water level is two feet low and all ramps are good. From what I am told by a few locals that fish it regularly, is the hybrids are very elusive, and tough to find. Im considering making a trip to an East TX lake later in the week to get some fishing in while I have a few days off. The lakes I normally fish are pretty muddy right now.

Elusive Hybrids, putting it mildly. In one spot one day, gone the next. You would think they would simply go to the bottom and appear as a fire ant mound whereby, slabbing would work. Not the case, lots of drum on the bottom. Mid lake humps producing a few sand bass in 20-25 fow. Grey Gulls showed up last Sunday. Maybe they will get off strike and find some fish.

Drum and cats love to eat those zebra mussels. You'll be seeing some monster drum in the future as they now have a food source that cannot run away.

Water clarity was good this Sunday, much better than expected, all the way from the 380 bridge up past the dam. Once past the dam, it gets pretty dirty. Only fished for bass and it was pretty tough. Water temp was around 68 degrees. Ramp at the 380 bridge is fine.

I tried BP yesterday. Water was clearer than I expected. Heavy stain up towards wise county park. Slightly stained at 3 Fingers to the dam. A bunch of crappie and drum on slabs. A couple of very small sandbass. Lots of drum on slabs. No hybrids were biting. Lots of bait scattered all over the lake.

I was out there bass fishing yesterday and had quite a few blowups and bites throwing crankbaits and topwaters near the mouth of the river. Whites and hybrids were schooling like crazy in that area late yesterday afternoon.
Hopefully that info helps yall out.

Finally made it over to bridgeport so I figured Ill give a report, water was staind on main lake and pretty muddy up in river. I fished from just north of bridge up in to river. finding lots of fish under bait all over the lake. caught around 40 sandbass and 1 hybrid dead sticking. marked what looked to be big hybrids but only got one to eat.

Thanks for the report. That is kinda how mosr of my trips to BP have been for a while. I think Ill stick with the night trips to Pk instead of being frustrated at BP.

Jeff I dont blame you, it was fun getting to see a lake Ive never fished. Would have been nice to hammer some hybrids. Hopefully it makes a comeback soon.
