im wanting to drop a line into some crappie fishing, I have all the equipment, but I’m not sure where to start...
I want to fish Lewisville for crappie since I live closest to that lake. Any help would be appreciated.

Better think it over....very addictive roflmao Welcome to the "thump". Hiring a guide will get you up to speed quickly for sure, however, if you opt to not take that route then start with your maps. If you're a bass fisherman then look at the same places you would for bass....laydowns, humps, drop offs, timber...etc. One of my favorite ways to catch specs is dock shooting (also very addictive). Lots of videos on Youtube. Good luck! thumb

You have a pm

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

welcome to the addiction. this time of year the fish are moving back into the creeks after the shad and warmer water. you can catch them right off the bottom, especially in the deeper pools where there may be logs/brush, drop off, etc. try using slightly larger baits this time of year. like 3". I prefer anything with chartreuse and another color. soon, after we get a week of really cold weather the crappie will start getting thicker on the bridges. there are some there now but its not as consistent as back in some of the feeder creeks. when bridge fishing make sure to drive by and scan the pilings with your side and down scan turned on. try to figure out what depth the fish are holding at. the depth will change throughout the winter as the water level, oxygen, abundance of bait, and temp changes. once you find that magic depth you can recreate it on all the columns on any particular bridge. remember to fish tight to the columns, like 8" or less.

hope that helps. illl be posting reports on my facebook page this winter. feel free to call or text if you need help.

Hiring a guide would probably be best. There are about 10 different ones to choose from.

Hey skeeter, I was raised crappie and bass but getting more into crappie lately. We just moved to flowermound and have been trying Lewisville. The 35 bridge is a hot spot from what I’m understanding. I found a guide that seems to be steady with fish lately. Just trying to figure them out on my own like you.
