Great question DMunsie.. I'm listening to any advice on this too.

I have a few that come to mind. Not 100% sure on the catfishing part.

1: Mustang Island. Good for catching gafftop and hardhead catfish = )
2. Eisenhower has been good to me in the past for striper and whites. Never had luck on catfish. My cat location is over by the dam, by the boatramp.
3. Ray Robert. Isle Du Bois unit. Read some good reports about the fishing there. I personally fish below the dam.
4. Whitney State Park. Went once. Caught striper.
5. Lake Livingston. Never been there, but a good lake.

Purtis Creek State park. Has 2 lighted docks. Very good catfish lake. Very clean park .

Lake Tawakoni State Park has one good point when the water is high. But if you can get there before the other people. Go to the point right past the boat ramp. I have caught many a 10+ pound kitties. The second picture below is from there.

I've had good luck at Choke Canyon. Used to fish it sometimes when I lived in San Antonio.

Is catfishing any good from the bank in the winter? I�ve only ever fished for catfish in spring, summer and fall, and usually only at local park ponds.

Same here, a summer activity for me as I usually nighttime fish for catfish while camping.
