Hello Everyone, this is an invitation to join me at Mondays Dallas Fly Fishers meeting on January 7. The main meeting will start at 7:00 pm and before that meeting we will discuss fly tying starting at 5:30 pm. I will be this months speaker and I plan to talk about fly casting accuracy. Some fishing situations require you to put a fly in a very specific spot. These situations range from putting a fly in front of a bonefishs or carps nose without spooking them to accurately placing a bass fly between the narrow gap of open water in the shoreline reeds or placing a fly in the right current to pass over the rising trout's nose. Accurate casting is an important skills for all fly fishers to know. We will discuss different casting techniques and different casting styles and when to use them. We will use some casting videos to highlight different techniques. We will also discuss ways to practice your casting to help with accuracy. I plan to have something of interest for all skill and experience levels. The casting discussion will start at 7:00 p.m. Starting 5:30 pm, well talk about fly tying. When I am demonstrating a fly pattern, I like to tie patterns that are proven to catch fish, but many of you may not have seen before. Monday, I plan to tie my favorite largemouth bass fly for Lake Texoma. Its a quick tie that works. I hope youll come join us. The meeting will be at the Wyndham Dallas Suites - Park Central, 7800 Alpha Rd., Dallas, Texas 75240. (The hotel is located behind the In and Out Burger near the Northwest corner of Hwy 75 and 635.) Thanks, Rex

Accuracy, at least in the fly fishing I get to do, is critical...significantly more so than distance. Next in importance to me is the ability to deliver the fly with minimum backcasts. Practice, practice, practice and meetings like yours can help.
