Im a little confused. Im a HUGE proponent of angler safety. But since when did we start cancelling tournaments because of 20 mph wind gusts? Am I missing something?

A 20 mph nnw wind on Amistad will eat your lunch, then add gusts to 30mph, probably a good call

I remember back in 07 or 08 they cancelled the elites down there one day and it turned out to be a beautiful day, all they have to rely on to make a call is the forecast.
I have talked to 2 guys that are fishing, and they both said they made the right call.

How short our memories are.... it was one year ago tomorrow Nick Kayler was reported missing in similar wind conditions at the Costa Series on Okeechobee.

So it's a two day tournament now, understand why some are upset. Should have allowed them to trailer.

I can appreciate the call. I have a son fishing it. He has been out there in the wind. He told me it was as much about wind direction as wind speed.

i don't have a dog in this hunt. But I know a guy fishing that thought it was a horrible call. I know how fast that lake can get mean. But at this lake level, and that forecast, most trails would have went. Or that's what I believe. I think they are erring on the side of caution after last year. BUT, if you are going to call a whole day off for that forecast, schedule away from Amistad. Because it's rare this time of year through May to have 3 days in a row with perfect conditions.
