Do you think it's worth spending money to have a cheaper reel professionally cleaned and lubed?
At what price point would you consider a reel "disposable?"
What price point would you consider a reel an investment?

I would say if you really like the reel then cleanings and regular maintenance are ok...Ive cleaned and serviced $500 reels down to black max reels and very soon a zebco 33...to answer your other questions Id say for me personally if I had a black max lets say ($50) if it need a cleaning and parts Id prolly not fix it and use it as a parts reel....but my mgx or white chronarchs, etc Id definitely repair them so a reel in the $100 range round abouts Id service and repair especially if I was fond of them and on the flip side I could see someone putting a few bucks into a $50 reel if they were really fond of it. So the question comes down to what your comfortable with putting into a reel to get it serviced and repaired. Example: my service is $15.00 a reel which includes complete tear down, inspection and new grease and reassembly. Id say thats worth it even on the least expensive reels especially if you like them. I hope I answered your questions.
