It�s time I purchase a good pair of gloves for cold weather fishing. I am looking for recommendations and reviews. TIA.

Cold weather gloves and fly fishing? I don't think there is such a thing. You will find gloves intended for cold weather will just get in the way. If you're really worried about cold, get a zippo hand warmer.

The last time I went fishing in the cold (28 degrees) I was happy with just a pair of Glacier Glove sun gloves. They didn't do much for warmth, they were more for keeping the wind off.

Heavy duty surgical type gloves extended length...any other light weight water resistant glove on top of that. I can still tie with the surgicals and they will keep you dry... Hand and boot warmers are a must for me

I like my Glacier Gloves. Only negative is having to rinse off the trout slime after returning home!

I have a pair of the Cabela's Guidewear cold weather fishing gloves. They do a really good job of keeping your hands warmish. They are half-finger gloves but have a cuff on the fingers to keep water from getting inside them. They definitely stop wind and keep your hands pretty dry. Wore them a few weeks ago on the Lower Mountain Fork when morning temps were below freezing and they did the job.

Good gloves can absolutely save the fly angler on cold days in very cold water.

I prefer the foldover type that provides the best of both worlds with cold protection and flexibility for close work. Cabellas and Simms both make good ones and you can't go wrong with either,

I have the gloves that McKinney Longhorn posted along with some simms and many others. Hands are not the problem, fingers and finger tips are impossible. Keep a dry towel with you to wipe hands off when wet. If your stripping streamers, once again impossible to keep warm.

Smurfs comments are spot on. Impossible to keep fingers dry and warm, especially if you're stripping streamers. I try to keep a dry towel hanging around and that helps. I haven't tried the Simms gloves that are posted above, but I have a pair of the 1/2 finger wool gloves made by them. They do okay, but not great. Once they get good and wet than they aren't very warm. I have a pair of 1/2 finger neoprene gloves that do a decent job. I take them off and shake the water out/off of them every now and then, which also helps.

Sounds like we�re out of luck Mateo. not only are we stripping streamers we are catching wet fish every cast.

The tops of the gloves Glacier Glove sun gloves are made from a thin quick drying material. The palm is synthetic leather and will still get water logged over time and take a little while to dry. Maybe coating them in Scotchguard water shield will help. They aren't bulky winter gloves and allow for full range of movement. Just take some hand warmers with you.

That�s what we�re looking for mit 78 good stuff. I have thought about wearing thick waterproof neoprene gloves and just taking them off if I need to retie. I know it�s not seeing a fish taking a fly on the surface. Yet stripping streamers like we are now you know without a doubt when you hit a fish. In years past I have been so diehard I did not notice it but I�m tired of my hands being cold LOL. And smurfs couldn�t help my self haha oh what a winter of fishing. Bono fly and I where killing trout one day sub freezing. We were fishing midges on 6x and he broke off a fish. He was like my hands are to frozen to tie on this little stuff I�m done. I told him no worries I would tie a tie one on and he said no that was his excuse to quit!

Big fan of the Perlis - https://bit.ly/2SwzsXj . They used to make a thin waterproof shell that I still wear over a generic fleece glove, but I don't see that offered anymore.

Try winter golf gloves and get them a size small. Put the gloves on and get them very wet! Let them dry a bit and take them off to air dry! Hand warmers are good too!

The best thing I ever used was neoprene gloves with the fingers cut out on the thumb and first two fingers. I cut them just past the first finger joint. Makes it easy to deal with your line, deal with fish, and when fumbling around for your various pieces of equipment.
