[quote=44 Diesel]Found em stacked up good on the main river channel ledge in several different places from 28- 60 fow. A real light bite today. They didn't cooperate very well while spot locked. They wanted it jigged a just bit and moving, Had to set the trolling motor just slow enough to keep moving into the wind. About 130 hook sets and around 40 hooked, gotta love dead sticking,

Bobos thumper kept fish stacked around me all day everywhere I went .

Excellent ! Doesn't it make sense, if fish are chasing bait , you should be moving to stay up with them in order to catch them !! Drift via sock or into wind if wind pushes off course.

Great pictures! Whitney is a lot of fun right now! It was the same way for me the other day, had to be drifting to get bit.

Are any ramps open other than McCown and Harbor Master right now? Wanting to launch down near the dam tomorrow if possible, but I'm not sure if Uncle Gus' or any other ramps are open down that way.

What kind of bait rig are people using while dead sticking for striper?

this is from earlier this week. This is the type of areas I have been finding and catching stripers mixed with large sand bass.

I prefer the loop knot. It seems to stay horizontal better, this prevents the knot from sliding around the jig eye.

Impressive screen shots, are the fish chasing bait, headed north or is there a creek bed close by ?

They are stacking up along main river channel and moving up river. Found lots of fish grouped up in the river.

I have seen birds working in front of plowman creek park several mornings over the past couple of weeks.

Fished Whitney yesterday (Sunday) from 9:30 - 4 or so. Wanted to fish the river but corps web site showed most of the upper ramps closed so went to McCowan instead. Decided it was a little too cold to make the run up so stayed between the bridge and White Bluff. Never saw any birds working so started out graphing channel edges. Ended up with 11 striper and 55 big white bass, smallest was around 12". All fish caught dead sticking. Water temps started out at 48.5 and got up to 50.2 in the afternoon. Water is still very off color for Whitney.

Sunday was one of those epic days. Caught over 75 stripers in the 16-24" range dead sticking , we quit counting. It was like fishing the sand bass run up the river. The fish really turned on later in the afternoon. A few screen shots

Shad sitting above stripers. These stripers were not feeding. Just hanging around till they get hungry
