I have a Humminbird Gen 1 Helix 10 SI and a Lowrance Elite 7 HDI. Bought a Wal Mart Marine Maxx 1000 cranking amps battery about 6 months ago. Just had it tested after 3 days charge and it tested 12.7 amps and 1224 CCA. Every time I turn my boat on to run to another spot my Humminbird shuts off. This is my second battery where this happens. Interesting fact. When I turn the backlight down to 3 or 4, the graph doesn't shut off. Can't figure this one out. Anyone have an idea? Thank you

What does the voltage read on Hummingbird display. Sounds like a bad connection some where in the power chain.

12 gauge wire for thr power cable.

Power cable ran straight to the starting battery, not a fuse panel.

That should fix the issue

Does it do it every time or later in the day? Sounds like you need to run a different size wire or you have a bad connection somewhere.

Replace hot with fusible link and ground wire with tinned marine wire from locator to battery. Wiring could have gone bad anywhere along its path if a good quality wire was not used during original installation.

I was having the same type issue. I ran a dedicated #12 fused power supply to the graphs. It all stopped ! No more shut downs and loss of tracking on gps. Not exactly sure where the issue was but I figured the graphs were more voltage sensitive ?? It did it only on cranking the big motor.

Use marine grade, tinned, copper wire. Also , turning backlight down to 6-7 saves a noticeable amount of battery towards the end of the day. Like when you don't crank big motor all day till ready to go in.
