I am looking for an RC car for a Christmas gift.

Are there any places in Ft Worth that sell something in the $50-$75 range that I can go put my hands on and talk to someone?

I see several on Amazon, but would really like to go to a box store with some options.

JT's Hobby or HobbyTown in Fort Worth will have RC cars, but I'm not sure if they are gonna be in that price range....RC stuff has gotten rather expensive.

Youre probably going to be looking into the $300-$500 range for something that a hobby store would sell. Id look at the traxxas brand. Check our their website www.traxxas.com and see if they have anything you like, then use their find a retailer feature. My son was big into RC cars a few years ago and his was a traxxas. He beat the [censored] out of them and they are still running. Replacement parts for traxxas RC cars are very easy to find too.

50-75 for a reliable rc car is tough to come by, even used these days. Traxxas is probable best bet as just mentioned. You can get away under 200.

It is a tiny scale (1/28th scale). but the Team Associated SC28 is a hoot and sells for about $55. They are a lot of fun indoors, and pretty darn zippy for their scale. They also have proportional steering (most vehicle's steering in that price range are either full lock or nothing). The battery in the truck can be recharged by plugging a charging cable into the truck and then the controller, using the controllers replaceable batteries to charge the truck.

That's about the only vehicle sold in actual RC hobby shops that will fit your budget, but for what it does, it does it well.

If you want to step up your budget just a little bit (and product complexity), take a look at Traxxas' "LaTrax" line, as well as what's offered by Redcat. Those are probably the best two values at the moment on entry level "hobby grade" RC stuff.

I always wanted an RC plane. Some of the you tube videos I've seen of those are crazy. Like a B52 with 18' wing span. Yes 18 feet not inches.

Thanks for all the replies. Couldn't part with that much dough for a Traxxass so went with an Amazon option.

I'm interested in what that option was.

$100 at a hobby shop will buy a "kiddie" car. That sucker is twice as fast as the cars we had growing up. The big cars you buy now at hobby shops are almost too fast to handle.
