I've been doing some thinking about this and here is my theory.
Jones knew that he would have to pay Dak the big bucks after this season and he wanted to find out just exactly what or if he was worth it.
Best way to do that is set him up to either fail, or allow him to show that he is worth the big contract.
In order to accomplish this, he had to take away any coaching, and to do that he assigned the failed ex-backup Kellen Moore to be his coach, knowing that Moore wasn't talented enough to win a starting job, and that he had little to no real game experience, and that Dak would only have someone to play catch with.
He knew that Moore couldn't sit on the bench during a game and explain to Dak what he was doing wrong, or how he needed to adjust his game, and give encouragement and comfort to Dak during his time of duress during a game.
No, Jones kind of left Dak to hang out and dry all by his lonesome.
So here we are, and Dak has a couple of games to prove his worth to Jones, the team, and to the Cowboy nation.
Jones is such a brilliant man! bang

Your theory has a lot of good points and you're right about Moore so I'm in on your theory. Problem is if Dak fails there's no back up and not much in the draft.

If the fans would demand Romo come back as his coach, we would all live happily ever after. Maybe next year.

I just hear and read a lot of bagging on Dak, but he was short changed especially this season, and when I heard who the QB coach was way back in training camp, I couldn't believe it.
Wade Wilson was a good coach, and he moved on, but I guess Jones figured he had enough time and coaching to be able to fend for himself.
He will get his raise, and hopefully he gets some better coaching for next season.

Could be worse, could be Cam Newton. He looked awful last night in a game his team needed to win. After watching him take his sweet time near the end of the first half to give his first down signal I became convinced he is either the dumbest QB in the league or the most self-centered (probably both).

I was listening to the post game show, (wrapping Christmas packages) and they mentioned he had a shoulder injury.
That could explain his odd behavior, and lack of accuracy and short passes.
He looked to be drugged or something was wrong with him.

Easily the most self-centered, and thats saying something. Not sure he can beat Jameis Winston on lack of intelligence.
