Keep an eye on the classifieds after Christmas. A lot of people will get new Iphones for the holiday and throw their old one, most likely less than a year old, up on Craigslist for 50% or more off retail.

I have had good luck with getting one or two year old used phones on the cheap and getting a few more years out of them.
