Get the 8 or the 8 plus. Best bang for the buck IMO. I pay monthly for mine. The 8+ was $1 per month less than the XR, and the X has something like 40% longer battery life. No brainer.

I have an XR that I really love. Insane battery life. I’m a phone addict, I haven’t charged my phone since yesterday morning and I’m still st 40%. And the XR is the “budget” X. Wife just got the XR.....I will be upgrading soon to the XS+. I like big!

Keep an eye on the classifieds after Christmas. A lot of people will get new Iphones for the holiday and throw their old one, most likely less than a year old, up on Craigslist for 50% or more off retail.
I have had good luck with getting one or two year old used phones on the cheap and getting a few more years out of them.
