Went out yesterday for 3 and a half hours checking to see what the structure pattern is now. I found fish at Saint Annes Points East and West, the A-Frame and Sam's Hump. They were on the bottom in 17 to 25 fow. Fish were wandering around, so I'd catch 3 to 5 then have to move around to locate them again. All fish caught sitting on top of them fishing straight down with a #4 Mepps. Even sitting on top of them marking fish they are slow to bite. Attempts to cast away from the boat to the fish did not work. Water temp now 53 degrees F. I ended up with 25 whites, 2 legal hybrids, 2 short hybrids and a cat. On the way in I veered over to Long Ridge just to see if I could mark fish and I marked a bunch of them.

Sounds like deadsticking is on at CC. Still slow on Hubbard yet. The gates at Lavon are now closed so hopefully in the next 2 weeks the fish will get on a pattern here too.

12/15 and 12/16: Was out for 2 hrs 15 min on both days in the afternoon. Caught 30 fish each day - mostly fat 14 to 16 inch whites. Also caught 2 legal hybrids on Sat and 8 on Sun with 2 on Sun that were 24 inches and very fat. Ran into and had a good visit with TFFer 4X4 Bruce on Sunday at Key Ranch Drop-off. All fish caught on structure using one of two patterns: (1) In 20 to 24 fow get on top of fish (which are near the bottom) and lift or drag Mepps #4 up from bottom. Vary the presentation with lifts from just 6 inches to as long as 4 ft, Try various speeds and popping it a time or two before lifting, (2) For concentrations in 13 to 15 fow, cast the Mepps out about 10 yards, let it get to the bottom and then use rod to drag it sideways along bottom. This worked much better than my usual method of reeling the Mepps in along the bottom. Found the shallow fish at Key Ranch Drop-off and the sat over fish in 20 to 22 fow at Key Ranch Drop-off , Long Ridge and Long Ridge West. Water temp now 52 degrees F.
