I've heard that the online version is terrible and you should only use desktop. Anybody have any experience with both/either?

I use the online simply because my CPA has access to it. I don't know the full capabilities of either, but know enough to categorize.

I've only used the desktop for the last 10yrs or so. 4 of us at work are all linked together. Our CPA is not linked direct to it. But we zip drive a backup and drop it off at their office. It's been a good.

Our church uses Quickbooks. We were going to use the online version instead of buying licenses. The online functionality was too limited for it to work the way we needed so we ended up buying several licenses. I can’t really speak to the differences.

Not a fan of QB. It’s a nightmare to support. That said, the server/client version is the best.

We have several customers that we support that use various versions of QB. Some do online, others run it local. Online works just fine. It's the best small business accounting system out there and has lots of 3rd party add-ons available. We use Peachtree/Sage for our business and want to switch if we can ever slow down enough to migrate. If you get payroll you will need to update (reads $$) annually.

Yep have used it since 2003. Don't do the online version and have only used the desktop version. Has always been easy to use and I simply make a copy for the accountant at tax time. I would recommend it.

Great info. Thanks guys. I think the online version will work for what I'm doing and I like that it's not solely dependent on my laptop which is super buggy and I don't trust it. I also like that I can take pics of receipts and input them with the online version. I don't have inventory or payroll either so looks like online is the way to go. Thanks again!
